Breeding racing pigeons requires not only passion but also a well-thought-out concept and high-quality products. At Röhnfried, we know that proper breeding preparation is the key to strong, healthy young pigeons. Our decades of experience and extensive product range help breeders achieve their goals. In this post, we will show you how to achieve successful breeding with optimal preparation and how our products can assist you.
The pre-pairing phase is crucial. About four weeks before pairing, a comprehensive health check of the pigeons should be carried out to ensure they are in top condition.

Avidress Plus is a product that lowers the pH value of drinking water, effectively reducing infection pressure. Lowering the pH to 4.5 ensures that harmful pathogens, such as trichomonads, cannot multiply. Additionally, it contains minerals, trace elements, oregano, and cinnamon. This combination, along with acids, positively influences metabolic efficiency.
Recommended application:
Year-round: 5 ml per liter of drinking water. Start with 1 ml/liter to allow the pigeons to gradually get used to the taste.
Switching to breeding feed should be done at least five days before pairing. A balanced mix of high-quality proteins, essential amino acids, and fats is essential to prepare pigeons optimally for breeding.
During breeding preparation, a strong focus should be placed on vitamin E supplementation. Vitamin E is essential during the breeding phase, as it positively influences fertility, hatching rates, chick development, muscle growth, and flight performance, especially when combined with selenium. With Taubenfit E-50, we offer a high-quality supplement specifically tailored to the needs of breeding pigeons.
Recommended application:
5 ml per liter of drinking water (starting 14 days before pairing, at least five days per week).
OptiBreed contains an active ingredient complex that enhances protein synthesis, which is reflected in the rapid growth of young pigeons. Additional ingredients stabilize the intestinal tract, leading to a strengthened immune system. With its high vitamin E content, OptiBreed enhances breeding enthusiasm and prevents deficiencies.
Recommended application:
Add 40 g (about one tablespoon) per 1 kg of feed. Mix thoroughly for about 30 seconds until all grains are coated. During breeding and chick rearing, it should be fed 3-5 times per week.
Immunbooster enhances the pigeons' immune response and overall health. We use functional trace elements such as copper and zinc, which are highly bioavailable for pigeons, and complement the formula with a mycotoxin binder. The Immunbooster also contains prebiotic ingredients, alliin (a precursor of allicin), and colostrum to support pigeons during stressful periods.
Recommended application:
10 g of Immunbooster per 20 pigeons' feed, twice a week during breeding.
A continuous supply of minerals is essential during the breeding phase. Our MineralDrink provides valuable minerals to breeding and young pigeons during times of increased demand and helps balance mineral deficiencies. The valuable trace elements copper, manganese, and zinc also support important metabolic processes in pigeons.
Recommended application:
5 ml of MineralDrink per liter of drinking water, 2-3 times per week.
Gervit-W® is designed to compensate for diet-related vitamin deficiencies (common in grain-only feeding) during breeding, racing, molting, exhibition periods, and unfavorable seasons. It can be administered via drinking water or mixed with grain feed.
Recommended application:
5 ml per 20 pigeons, administered through feed or water.
