We let Luc have the floor: 'I didn't expect it myself, but my 53rd provincial victory is a fact,' says Luc. 'I will always remember this victory because it is very special. My wife and I couldn't wait for our pigeons to arrive on Sunday because on Sunday 8 September at 12 noon our first granddaughter was christened. At that moment, that was more important to us than our pigeons. At 12.45, when the christening was over, I quickly checked KBDB-Online to see if any pigeons from Argenton had already been registered at national level. I was very surprised when I saw my name in second national place. Was that true? Will we win a provincial victory at the christening of our granddaughter Ina when we ourselves are not at home? Yes, it really happened.”

A special detail: The winning hen is a granddaughter of Luc's 1st National Châteauroux 2022 and the 1st National Ace Pigeon Heavy Middle Distance KBDB 2022 'Armin'.  

The Röhnfried system

The pigeons get Avidress Plus in their drinking water all year round. From the end of February to the beginning of March they always get Witches' Beer in combination with UsneGano in their feed. One week this is dried with Pavifac brewer's yeast and the next week with herb-vegetable mix.

From mid-March the birds are given Carni-Speed in their drinking water every day, which ensures that they train well and stay in good condition. During April they have their first short flights. When they arrive there is always Mumm and Bt-Amin Forte in the drinking trough. The feed is moistened with UsneGano and mixed with herb-vegetable mix for three meals. On Tuesday and Wednesday Luc uses Avidress Plus in the drinking water and Witches' Beer on the feed. On the day of basketing, they always get Avipharm in the water.

As the season progresses, when the flights become longer and the pigeons have to stay in the basket for two nights, some adjustments are made. Then, on arrival, they get the combination of Bt-Amin Forte, Mumm and Rotosal, if the flight was very strenuous, even over several days. During this phase, the feed is moistened with Gervit-W and UsneGano and bound with K+K-Protein 3000.  After that, they get Hessechol, in combination with the conditioning powder RO 200ready. On the day of the race, the pigeons receive Avipharm and, depending on the weather conditions, Rotosal.

In 2022, things could hardly have been better: Luc won the 1st national ace pigeon heavy middle distance with 'ARMIN' for the old pigeons of the KBDB. In addition, he took 1st national place twice, and in the national races for the young pigeons he was able to achieve a provincial victory each time with three 1st provincials (twice Argenton and Châteauroux), and even with a certain lead. Nevertheless, the 2023 season in Anzegem was also very successful. The De Laere family has been using exclusively Röhnfried products for years, and the results are always top. What more could a breeder want?

The Röhnfried system

During the moulting period, a lot of Taubengold, Hessechol, brewer's yeast and herb-vegetable mix are used. Another important aspect is that the pigeons receive fresh minerals every day, together with lickstones and expert minerals.

Preparing the racing pigeons

The pigeons receive Avidress Plus in their drinking water every day. From the beginning of February to the beginning of March, Luc uses witch's beer in combination with Usne Gano in their feed. One week this is dried with Pavifac brewer's yeast, the next week a herb-vegetable mix is ​​used.

In April the pigeons complete their first short training flights, and when they come home they always find Mumm and Bt-Amin Forte in their drinking water. Luc adds UsneGano to the feed again, and for the next three meals a herb-vegetable mix is ​​added. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays the pigeons get Avidress Plus mixed into their water and witch's beer mixed into their feed.

As the flight distance increases in May (medium and difficult medium distance), the system is adjusted. Once the pigeons have to stay in the basket for two days, they are given a combination of Bt-Amin forte, Mumm and Rotosal upon their return. If necessary, this is given for about three meals. Then the feed is moistened with Gervit-W and UsneGano and dried with K+K-Protein 3000 to accelerate muscle regeneration. This combination is also given for about three meals.

Then Hessechol is used and dried with the RO200 ready conditioning powder. On the day of basketing, the pigeons are given Avipharm and, depending on the weather, Luc also adds Rotosal.
