In keeping with old tradition, both sexes played and took part in the race in 2024. Before the race, each pair raised a young bird - the simple reason for this is that the loft partners are convinced that this is good for the yearlings in order to develop a certain love of the loft. When playing with females, it is also advantageous if the ladies have something to do before the season to avoid early mating with each other.

Even though the first half of the season was very difficult, the SG was able to record some successes in 2024. The start was a bit bumpy, as the first three flights were very fast and another flight was canceled. This was followed by a demanding flight with a bankruptcy time of 5 hours. However, the second half of the season went very well and the pigeons found their rhythm again.

At the end of the season there was a very good young bird race. It is particularly noteworthy that the SG lost almost no young pigeons and still became the first regional association champion. The young pigeons were on the cabin express 14 times and with 6 prize flights of up to 330 km, solid preparation was created for the 2025 season.

The use of Röhnfried products during the racing season proved to be a success in terms of supply. Particularly noteworthy is Blitzform, which according to René Becker is one of the most important products. It not only serves to disinfect drinking water, but also ensures that the pigeons become more vital and develop more immune systems. The result of regular administration is snow-white nose warts, shiny plumage, clean throats and pink breast meat with shape spots.

At the beginning of the week, the feed is moistened with OptiBreed on two days and dried with Entrobac and young animal powder .

At the end of the week, the RO200 ready conditioning powder is used to build up the necessary power for the weekend. This product was used for the first time in 2024 and the loft community was very satisfied with the result.

All stuck pigeons receive Avitestin daily via the drinker to ensure optimal health.

How did your racing year 2023 go?

“Unfortunately, we kept losing fast pigeons due to many flights with a tailwind. Nevertheless, we were able to win four regional flights. We had practically no losses on the young bird flights.”

Which pigeon lines were the top performers in 2023?

“Once again, it was our Heremans line that produced our racing aces. Our best hen with a record of 13/13 comes from a bird from the Pipa Elite Center, which in turn is descended from a sister of the Porsche 911.”

Which products were particularly important this year and how did you use them?

“We are big fans of OpiBreed for racing pigeons. Together with Entrobac and the young animal powder in the first two days after the flight, they are of great importance to us in order to stabilize the pigeons' intestines again. To promote their form, our racing pigeons receive a 10-day course of witch's beer in the spring. After that, the racing pigeons are in top shape. Our old and young pigeons receive Blitzform twice a week. K+K is also a must the day after the flight. The breeding pigeons get Avidress Plus in their drinking water all year round. This year we also had very good experiences with Avimycin forte and the immune booster with our young pigeons.'

What are you planning to change for next year?

'Next year we will use RO 200 Ready. This year we have already had good experiences with the energy oil.”

Which flight do you remember particularly well?

“The best flight was the 300 km flight with the young pigeons. Here we secured the regional victory against 6000 pigeons and placed eleven pigeons in the top twelve.”

Which racing system do you use?

“We play with hens and birds in total widowhood. When releasing the partner is not shown. However, we usually do a training flight two days before releasing the pairs, where they can see each other.”

What advice can you give to beginners and sports enthusiasts who want to improve?

“Every breeder should have a well thought-out care concept. Efficient organization is also important. The health of pigeons should always be in the hands of a veterinarian.'
