In recent years, Carlos and Xavier have specialized in international long distance races, based on the pigeons of Henry van Neste, a famous long distance player who often achieved his best results from Barcelona.

Travel system

Carlos and Xavier practice classic widowhood, where the birds are basketed every two to three weeks. Special attention is paid to the weather conditions and regeneration after the last flights. The young ones are only set up for 200 km. As yearlings they take part in national flights, as two-year-olds they take part in international flights.

A fixed schedule

On Sundays and Mondays the pigeons receive Avidress Plus in combination with UsneGano. After their flights, Moorgold with K+K Protein 3000 is also added to the feed. To prepare for the flight and improve condition, Gervit-W is administered over the feed and dried with Ro 200 condition powder. The pigeons are also given Rotosal in their drinking water on the two days before they are released.

No more antibiotics

Last season, the pigeons' airways were clear all year round without the use of antibiotics. Instead of medication, Carlos and Xavier often used Atemfrei over the feed, which was dried with Avimycin forte, which always resulted in white noses and eyelids. As an extra after the flights, they used Avisana drops on two consecutive days. Even when the pigeons stayed at home, the drops were used twice a week. This combination proved to be extremely effective and made the use of antibiotics unnecessary. The pigeons were in better condition and this lasted much longer. During moulting, they often used a combination of Avidress Plus and UsneGano, as well as Taubengold two to three times a week, sometimes together with Gervit-W. The breeding pigeons received Avidress Plus on Mondays and Tuesdays, Gervit-W on Thursdays and Fridays, and Optibreed was always added to the feed at weekends.
